About him
I’m warm and friendly, with an enthusiastic and positive outlook on life. I enjoy a wide range of activities, including regular trips to London, the cinema, exploring the Chilterns and Cotswolds.
I’m now retired from my previous career, working for over 40 years in Health and Social Services, helping people recover from emotional and psychological difficulties.
And in this new chapter of my life I now spend my time: with friends and family; getting regular fresh air restoring some woodland in the Chilterns; researching in the Bodleian Library (I will say more if we meet); working very part time as part of the pastoral care team of a large local organisation.
I’m a big music lover…especially jazz, (Ellington and Sarah Vaughan are current favourites) alongside folk and blues….and then occasionally I play the viola…
I would struggle to live without Radio 4 on a desert island and confound my friends by being a bit of an Archers aficionado…
And for holidays….I regularly visit the Hebrides….(a love affair of over 40 years) and - in the last decade or so - Crete….where I explore the mountains, villages and beaches where few tourists venture.
And other things…pre COVID I danced salsa once a week, in the summer I swim with friends regularly in the Thames above Wolvercote.
Phew…I think that’s enough for now….
And whilst it might appear that I am very busy, it is actually not the case…with enough time to share all sorts of - as yet unknown - activities and adventures.

I’m looking for someone with similar interests and a warm and adventurous personality to join me in creating an exciting 2022. Healthy with a positive outlook on life. You will enjoy fresh air and walking as well as the joys of Oxford’s independent cinemas, cafes and bookshops.
Being able to cook over an open fire might prove to be an enjoyable advantage, tho far from essential.
