About her
I have recently retired from a fairly busy job and am enjoying having more time for all the other things in my life.
I have two "kids", now fully fledged, but both currently living in London and (sometimes!) available for Sunday lunch or evenings out. I'm still on friendly terms with their dad - no great drama there.
Then there's my garden, which is my happy place. It's small, but gets a lot of attention, as I can always manage to squeeze in one more plant. It usually contains my very old, rather tubby, cat.
I'm also taking full advantage of all the cultural stuff on offer in London. I was a bit disappointed by the Bayeux Tapestry recently, but maybe that's just me.. I think an exhibition or concert with friends is a nice way to socialise and I have to confess to developing a liking for matinees at the theatre. I'm not really a party girl (although I can occasionally be persuaded to dance, provided the music is from the 80s and it's preceded by a glass of wine).
I keep fit and am a regular at the gym. I have toyed with rowing, bouldering and, most recently, padel, but walking is the exercise I enjoy best. I like a project (South West Coastal Path etc), or just an amble in Surrey. If it can be combined with a pub lunch, or visit to a nice garden, I'm even happier. I have a group of friends who started as my antenatal group nearly 30 years ago and have now become my walking buddies.
I'm always happy to leave London for somewhere greener, or to discover a new city, but I don't have big travel ambitions for my retirement. I'm more interested in continuing to build a full and fulfilling life nearer to home. As for where "home" might be, I'm pretty well rooted with friends and community in Wimbledon, but there's always that slight hankering for the countryside...
I asked around as to how I should describe my personality, and the words "friendly", "funny", "caring" and "capable" came up. I know that making others happy makes me happy too, especially in a relationship.
